The second annual trip was a very good trip with us implementing several improvements
off of the 1998 trip. We took a trailor filled half-way with pre cut fire wood purchased in town, this saved us hundreds of
dollars in firewood and sore backs from hauling that wood back from the camp store. This trailor also allowed us to pack much
more products bought in town from a bulk store rather than buy individual products at an inflated price from the camp store.
We also selected a site closer to the bathrooms/showers and that was closer to the
camp store, from which we still needed to purchase ice and several other items.
One more fun activity we included in this trip was crawdad fishing. All that
is needed is some bait (Bacon works best), some fishing line (any string will work), and a frog spear; which can be attached
to the end of any wooden broom stick; a net may also be helpful for those who wish not to handle these little critters (which
can pinch you with their claws). The best place to look for crawdads is in well shaded areas, often under large boulders.
Also be warned, even in the summer the water in the Big Sur River will be very cold.
